Bay Area Clean Care ("Bay Area Clean Care," "we," "us") is a family owned restoration and professional cleaning company at 1656 Clarion Avenue, Petoskey, MI 49770. This policy covers bayareacleancare.com and the calls, emails, and texts that come from it. It explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what you send us, like your name, phone number, email, and address, so we can answer your request and do the work.
- We never sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and you can change your mind any time.
- We text you only about your request, and only with your permission. Reply STOP any time.
- You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information by calling or emailing us.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request an estimate, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, street address and town, the type of property, the services you need, the days and times that work for you, how you would like us to contact you, your permission to be contacted, and any notes you add. When you call, email, or text us, we have the information you share, including any photos or documents you choose to send, and details about your job or insurance claim.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site receives basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page you came from, and the date and time. With the estimate form we also note which page you sent it from, and a security check looks at signals from your browser to tell people apart from spam bots. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also records how you use the site, described under Cookies and your choices below.
Information from others. An insurance company, adjuster, property manager, or family member may give us your contact details so we can schedule work for you. Reviews you post on Google or Facebook are public and may be shown on our site.
Information we do not ask for. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, payment card or bank numbers, or health information through this website. Please do not send them through the form.
How we use it
- To answer your request, give you an estimate, and schedule a visit.
- To do the work, keep you updated about your job, and send appointment reminders.
- To work with your insurance company or adjuster when you ask us to.
- To keep the website secure and stop spam and fraud.
- To understand how the site is used and make it better, if you accept analytics cookies.
- To keep business, tax, and insurance records, meet legal requirements, and handle disputes.
Our spam screen automatically holds back requests that look like spam so a person can review them. We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser, and similar tools save information in your browser's storage. We use them in two groups:
Strictly necessary.These are always on, because the site needs them to work. Your browser remembers your cookie preferences for 12 months. A security check on the estimate form helps us stop spam. The service area map comes from Mapbox, which keeps a small amount of anonymous usage data in your browser to run the map. Our Instagram photos load from Instagram, and YouTube videos load only after you press play, from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Those companies handle that content under their own privacy policies.
Analytics, only if you accept. Google Analytics counts visits, the pages people view, and taps on our phone number and estimate form, so we can see what helps and improve the site. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which last up to two years. It does not tell us who you are, advertising features are turned off, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. If you reject analytics or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
When you first visit, you can accept all, reject all, or manage your preferences, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your preferences any time with Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of every page, or by clearing your browser's cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as reject all. Some browsers also send a Do Not Track signal; there is no common standard for it, so the site does not respond to it, but Global Privacy Control works as described.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only in these ways:
- Companies that help us run the website, only so they can do that work for us: our website host (Vercel), our email delivery service (Resend), our spam protection (Vercel BotID), Google Analytics if you accept it, and Mapbox for the map.
- Our website developer, Chamberlin Design, which maintains the site and reviews estimate requests our spam screen holds back, so real customers are never missed.
- People who help with your job, such as your insurance company or adjuster when you ask us to, and trusted subcontractors or suppliers, who get only what they need.
- When the law requires it, for example to answer a subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our crew, or others.
- If the business changes hands. If Bay Area Clean Care is sold or merged, customer records would move to the new owner, who would have to honor this policy.
Text messages and calls
The estimate form asks your permission before we reach out. When you check that box, you agree that we may contact you about your request by phone call, text message, or email. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Agreeing is not a condition of any purchase. We do not send marketing texts.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your permission to receive texts and your mobile number are not shared with any third parties.
How long we keep it
- Estimate requests, emails, and job records: as long as we need them to serve you, and then as long as tax, insurance, and legal record keeping requires. After that we delete them.
- Spam check details:the connection information our spam screen uses is kept only in the server's memory for a short time and is not saved.
- Website logs: our host keeps short technical logs for security and troubleshooting, then deletes them.
- Analytics: analytics cookies last up to two years, and Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for no more than 14 months.
- Your cookie choice: 12 months, then the site asks again.
How we protect it
The site uses encryption (HTTPS) for everything you send. Estimate requests go straight to our office email, access is limited to the people who need it to serve you, and the companies we work with keep their own security programs. No website or email system can be completely secure, so please do not send sensitive financial or health information through the form. If a security breach ever affects your information, we will tell you as Michigan law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Ask to see the personal information we have about you, or get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information, unless we need to keep it for a job, a claim, or the law.
- Stop texts any time by replying STOP, and turn analytics cookies off with Your Privacy Choices.
Depending on where you live, state privacy laws may give you more rights, such as the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, targeted advertising, or profiling. We do not sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and we honor requests to see, correct, or delete information from everyone, wherever they live.

We may ask you to confirm a few details so we know the request is really from you, and someone you authorize may ask for you. We respond within 45 days, and if we cannot do what you ask, we will explain why and you can ask us to reconsider. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
This website is for adults and is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites and visitors outside the U.S.
Our site links to other websites, such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Mapbox, and Sticker Mule. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies. Our stickers are sold through Sticker Mule, which handles the order, payment, and shipping, so we never see your card details. We serve Northern Michigan, and information you send us is stored and handled in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least once a year and when our practices change. We will post any update here with a new date at the top, and for important changes we will also put a notice on the website before they take effect.
